Bad idea. People would be up in arms screaming about how their gold suddenly dropped dramatically. Plus you'd have a few people that invite people into guilds just to steal their money. Having such a thing as a voluntary donation is better, and people are usually inclined to do this. (I donated 3000 gold to our guild on the third day, so we ending up being one of the first guilds with a guild hall)

I agree with this, or having a manually payment system where you can assign people to donate money (they can or can refuse to accept). Have a list of people who donated and the quanity of money donated.
Als I think there should be more ranks on the members, like New Trainie, Member and Veteran

There should be an option to put money toward guild halls and cape design, if they had a function where members could add gold into the guild bankroll which could only be spent on guild additions, not into the leaders pocket, then it would help guilds grow.
Forced or automatic anything spells outrage.

Exactly. If it were completely optional, then just donation would be recommended. But guild leaders could have the option to create a tax of not more than 5% of a players gold, and the players are warned of this, and have to agree to a nice little window that says what is happening. Also, the guild leader wouldn't be able to change this without notice...
If you are part of a guild, please help out and donate. otherwise, this issue would have never come up

I think guild leaders should have this option. I'd never use it in my guild, but those who feel that collecting dues is necessary should have a way to make sure their members pay up. Yes, there will be people who don't like this. Those people can easily go find a guild that charges less, or doesn't charge at all. There is very little danger of serious exploitation, because no one is stuck in a guild. Those that try to suck their members dry will find their membership dwindling to the point that they're forced to either change or die out. Allowing forced due-collection is not a mistake. Guild leaders attempting to take their members for every coin they have is a mistake, but it should be theirs to make.
I don't like collecting dues. I especially don't like the idea of forcing the members of my guild to give up any of their hard-earned money. I simply ask them to donate what they can, and make sure that those who do are recognized for their contributions. Some guilds, however, are going to want their members to make regular contributions. People have every right to choose how to run their guilds and, at the moment, there is absolutely no good way for those who want to do things this way, to go about doing it.
